Case study

Seven social handles. Four countries. A lot of badminton.

At a glance

Context
Two very different brands, Li-Ning and Hundred, across seven social handles in four countries, at an average of four reels a day.
My role
Marketing Intern, 2024. Social and content strategy.
What I did
I handled the content calendar, wrote scripts, shot content on ground and worked with editors. I developed two explainer series: String Theory for Li-Ning and Racket Science for Hundred.
Outcome
12K → 19K followers in two months and 3K → 20K average reel views. The formats stuck around, and are still being used nearly two years later.

I joined Sunlight Sports as a marketing intern, working across two very different brands, Li-Ning and Hundred, and seven social handles across four countries.

The content operation moved fast. We were producing an average of four reels a day, alongside stories, ads, lives and everything else that comes with running multiple sports accounts.

I handled the content calendar, wrote scripts, shot content on ground and worked with editors to bring the ideas to life.

But the work that stayed with me most was figuring out how to make badminton’s technical side interesting to people who don’t already speak the language.

Making badminton less intimidating

I developed two explainer content series, each built specifically for its brand.

For Li-Ning, a global performance brand, it became String Theory, breaking down racket technology and terminology in a way that made technical information easier to understand.

Racket Science EP 1

For Hundred, a much more local brand, it became Racket Science, bringing the same instinct for accessible education into a communication style that felt right for its audience.

Both turned technical badminton knowledge into short-form content people actually wanted to watch.

The formats stuck around. Nearly two years later, they’re still being used, with some of the series becoming among the pages’ highest-viewed content.

I learnt to make the thing, too.

Four reels a day teaches you very quickly that having an idea is the easy part.

I wrote the scripts, figured out how they should be shot, got on camera when needed, directed editors and worked on the content calendar that kept seven pages moving.

At the time, I also wasn’t leaning heavily on AI to write for me. Which, in hindsight, was useful.

It forced me to understand how to write for an audience, not just how to write something that sounded good.

That instinct has stayed with me.

Sunlight taught me the less glamorous side of content: ideas are only useful when you can actually make them.

I learnt how a reel goes from a thought in your head to a script, a camera, an editor and, hopefully, someone stopping their scroll.

More importantly, it taught me to balance what I want to say with what the audience actually wants to hear.

Turns out, that’s a pretty useful skill to have.
